Ndumo boasts approx 400 species - more than any other place in the entire South Africa

Ndumo Game Reserve boasts more species (approx 400) than any other place of comparable size in the whole of South Africa due in part to the habitat diversity but also to it's northerly position on the coastal plain where it picks up tropical stragglers.

Specials include Narina Trogon, Wood Owl, White-eared Barbet, Grey Tit-(Fantailed) Flycatcher, Black-throated Wattle-eye(Wattle-eyed Flycatcher), White-browed(Heuglin's) Robinchat, Gorgeous Bush Shrike, Retzís(Red-billed) Helmetshrike, Black Coucal, Sooty Falcon, Open-billed Stork and numerous other waders and waterbirds.
